Special Education

The Special Education Department at Amityville Memorial High School is committed to supporting students with disabilities throughout their high school experience, from entry to graduation and beyond. We partner closely with families to understand each student’s strengths, needs, and goals.  We believe open communication is essential to student success. Our program provides individualized instruction and appropriate support, while also focusing on academic growth, social-emotional development, independence, self-advocacy, and post-secondary readiness. As students approach graduation, we collaborate with families and agencies to support successful transitions to college, careers, vocational training, and community life.
The Special Education Department coordinates with the Athletic Office to offer Challenger and Special Olympics teams to provide students with disabilities opportunities to develop physical fitness, teamwork, social skills, and self-confidence through inclusive athletic participation.
